The community organizing initiative aims at empowering immigrant and refugee communities througheducational programs that enrich their knowledge about the democratic process/system in the United States.
Some of our programs under this intitiative include the Democracy Schools of Utah, Enriching Utah Coalition, Mi Voto Cuenta (My Vote Counts) among others.
Democracy Schools of Utah is a grass-roots program that addresses the need to assist individuals in building leadership skills and confidence as they learn to act as advocates for their own rights and the rights of others. Democracy Schools informs individuals about their rights and responsibilities as members in the community.
The Enriching Utah Coalition is a coalition that is interested in changing both the dialogue and policies that impact not just immigrants and refugees, but all of us. This grass-tops, statewide coalition is made up of public, private and faith-based leaders who care about the rights of immigrants. The coalition advocates for just policies that are considerate of both families and human rights.
