Volunteer Program

Description:

Sensibilize all community members about the value, opportunities and the need of voluntary participation in different types of organizations that help ethnic minorities.

The objective of this program is to promote an extensive and well formed volunteerism. Our volunteers dedicate a few hours regularly to provide community service. This service is usually channeled to the different CU programs and allows volunteers to be in direct contact with the community and also to bring their experience and expertise on the administrative side of our projects.

Volunteer Hours:

Volunteers will choose the schedule that allows them to help in CU activities. The most important thing is that every volunteer must be commited to volunteer at least two hours of their time per month. When CU needs volunteer assistance, we will get a hold of them to inform them about the activities coming up.

Volunteer Meetings:

CU Volunteers meet on the last thursday of every month at 5:00 pm at Comunidades Unidas' office. Active volunteers and CU staff meet and discuss upcoming events and special projects were volunteers could get involved.

Volunteers also have an opportunity to suggest potential projects or events that will be beneficial to our community. Our volunteers are encouraged to be involved in both the planning and execution of events with the purpose of better addressing the needs of the community in different areas.

Volunteer Profile:

All those people with social anxieties and with a desire to contribute in the development and improvement of the disavantaged. Volunteers should have the committment necessary to start and finish important projects.

Incentives:

  • Volunteers will recieve a certifícate stating the number of hours they have volunteered.
  • Recomendation letter for academic or professional purposes.
  • In case of a job opening in Comunidades Unidas, active and past volunteers will have priority.
  • CU is registered in the national "President's Volunteer Service Award Program."
  • Special recognition to the "Volunteer of the Year"
