Senior Preventive Health Organizer
Cecilia Figueroa was born in Taxco Guerrero, Mexico. She studied Psychology at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos in Mexico. She started in Comunidades Unidas as a volunteer in 2013, later she took leadership training and graduated as a community promotora (CHW). Since 2013, she has participated in several workshops and trainings, to empower, inform, educate and support the community emphasizing the mission of the organization to maintain “Families together, Families healthy”.
During these years she has collaborated in different areas such as SNAP applications, Medicaid / CHIP, in the Buying Rico and Sano program, Healthy food demonstrations, Breast Cancer Prevention, Health Window, providing information inside and outside the organization.
In 2017 she collaborated with other promoters in a project on Autism in
Latino children, she facilitated the training of promotoras in a variety of topics: promotora ethics, field work, stress management and personal care among others. In 2021 she assumed the position of Senior Preventive Health Organizer, Comunidades Unidas has given her many opportunities to continue learning and supporting the community with love, enthusiasm, empathy and a lot of heart. It is a privilege to continue her personal and professional development in this organization.
