CU Later! An Update from Programs Director

Dear Community Partners,
After 11 years of working at Comunidades Unidas, I wanted to share with you that I decided to step down from my position as Programs Director. It has been an incredible journey and the best years of my life (so far) to work with my team and with you. During these past 11 years, the change I have experienced is incredible; CU made me realize the importance of having my mental health checked and my person in the front of the fight💪🏽💪🏽. I can not fight for rights with my team if I do not have good health and the time to process what we experience. I could not be who I am without the work and partnership I have had with my amazing familia!😍😍😍😍
As you know, for the past 22 years, CU has been the TO-GO organization for immigrant rights, the to-go organization for cultural competency and cultural humility, and of course, access to healthcare. 💁🏽♀️During this time, CU has allowed me to create amazing relationships with you, work on common goals, and have an amazing impact on our communities. We have done so much work and important changes to our state that are improving the lives of our community.
Our programs are stronger than ever, our leaders are bolder than ever, and our community will continue fighting and be resilient as always because we believe in the power of community and togetherness. I feel very happy knowing that I leave something good to Latinx in Utah, and my team will continue the fight at my beautiful house: CU.
I want to extend an invitation to you on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, to celebrate with us the farewell. We will have fun from 4- 6 pm at Comunidades Unidas: 1750 W Research Way, Suite 102, West Valley City, Utah 84119. Please bring your facemask to ensure we continue protecting ourselves!
If you want to show your support but can't make it to the event, please consider donating to Comunidades Unidas; your support will be greatly appreciated. It will make me super happy, and you know it will be the best way to celebrate with me!
Your donation will help us continue creating a safer space for CU staff, promotoras, and volunteers, as I mentioned to you, providing opportunities to people, dreamers, immigrants, women of color, and of course queer folks like me🌈. https://www.cuutah.org/donate
May the force be with us!
Leading with love,
