Congratulations Emilia!

Emilia Gomez is Promotora (Community Health Worker) and she has been at Comunidades Unidas for the past 4 years. She took the Promotora leadership training on 2016 and has been referring people to access healthcare, and dental services, also, she empowers the community by sharing her she feels that Comunidades Unidas had a great impact on her life after she took the training.

CU leadership training encourage her to her to finish her GED, that gives her a new perspective. She had difficulties as English is her second language, nonetheless she was determined to finish and pursue higher education.

She told us: “Women of my age, who are in the house or have children can complete their dreams, there is no impediment to get ahead. It is not easy, but it is possible. You stress a little bit but you have to dedicate yourself and make an effort for you and your family”.
