The financial literacy program: Educating Latinx families to manage their finances.

Updated: Aug 1, 2018

CU launched a financial literacy and empowerment program with the goal of promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency. Clients increase their financial literacy by learning how the financial system works in the United States. At the same time, clients are encouraged to develop a specific financial goal to bring financial stability to themselves or their families.

One unique thing about this program is that we work with each client individually by setting up a goal based on their values and what drives them to improve their finances. We believe that if we put the client's values and family first, it will be easier to reach financial stability.

Everyone, regardless of income, immigration status or educational background can reach their financial goals. The services CU provides under the Financial Literacy Program include: -Financial coaching -Personal advising -Education -Goal setting -Daily financial workshops at the Mexican Consulate.

For the past 6 months, CU and our partner agencies have: - Educated 3,000+ community members about financial literacy  - Provided personal advising to 450 + community members - Set up a financial goal with 80+ community members - 20+ referrals to a financial coach For more information contact CU or Vicky Fuentes at 801-487-4143
